A guest appearance on CNN took an unexpected turn this week when political commentator Peter Hamby accidentally roasted Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. During a segment hosted by Dana Bash, Hamby’s off-the-cuff remarks about Walz’s appeal to a particular demographic left viewers and Bash herself scrambling to keep the conversation on track.
Hamby, speaking about the Democrats’ struggle to resonate with young male voters, took a jab at Walz. “Donald Trump, he plays golf with Bryson DeChambeau, he goes on Theo Von, he talks about Zyns, and you know, Democrats, I’m sorry, like, they haven’t had a cool guy candidate in awhile.”
“With all due respect to Tim Walz—like, Tim Walz appeals to a lot of men, but he also appeals to that guy, Bruce, who’s just packaged; he’s wearing a “Future is Female” shirt. Uh… like, he’s wearing a “Future is Female” shirt.”
The statement seemed to catch Bash off guard as she quickly attempted to steer the conversation back to more serious matters. However, Hamby’s comment seemed to resonate with viewers.
